The World According to Michael

 This comes out of the "are you serious" file.  A woman in Ohio was arrested and sentenced as a criminal for sending her children to a different school district than the one she resided in.  Not only that, she was asked to pay $30,000 for public school tuition.

This comes from the overbearing state & teachers union control of the schooling system.  They have done an amazing job at creating a one-size-fits-all system for creating mindless, uneducated children.  They have taken away all forms of competition in the schooling system.  They arbitrarily draw school district boundaries, then force the parents to enroll their kids into their respective district.  Even if the district has the worst record for student achievement & testing scores.  

Without getting into why the public school system should be abolished altogether.  Why not allow school districts to compete for the students directly.  If a particular district has better teachers and produces better scores, why not allow parents the choice of enrolling their children into that district.  As it stands right now, the school districts have ZERO incentive to improve the outcomes of their students.

In conclusion, shame on the school district and the judge for even considering what this lady did as criminal.  What is criminal is the public indoctrination camps known as public schools.  There is a record amount of money that is being poured into these schools and the scores continue to underwhelm.  It's time the public schooling system be abolished and the choice placed back into the parents hands.  The teachers unions can go pound sand for what they have done to the public education system.
